The initial objectives of the project are twofold:
- To promote and facilitate cooperation between the EU, Japan and US on the assessment of ITS and CO2 emissions
Here, the main contribution of ECOSTAND will be to encourage a continuous dialogue and agreement between the three regions on relevant themes. ECOSTAND will stimulate the exchange of information on state-of-the-art modelling techniques and simulation tools, and will permit a high quality EU contribution to discussions.
- To provide trilateral agreement on a framework within which a common assessment methodology can be defined
The framework will pave the way towards the international standardisation of the methodology. It should be stressed that while it is not in the remit of ECOSTAND to produce the methodology, the project aims to formulate a roadmap and joint research agenda to identify gaps in the research and propose solutions to enable the methodology to be developed.
